Reading groups are individualized to the specific needs of each student. We provide skill based targeted instruction using research based interventions. Some of the reading programs we utilize are SPIRE, Heggerty, 95% Group, Early Reading Intervention, Orton Gillingham Strategies, iReady Reading, and Recipe for Reading. Most of these programs focus primarily on reading fluency. If a student can not fluently read text, then they are not able to comprehend what they are reading. Improving reading fluency is vital to improving reading comprehension. Each student is monitored on their instruction level once a month and three times a year on grade level. These assessments help us identify areas of weakness, so we target our instruction more effectively.
